Make A Filter
TL\DR: Consider making a mail rule\filter in your email client of choice that allows email sent to [email protected] to be allowlisted for safe passage.
Background: This morning I was looking at why Google classified one of the listserv emails as SPAM and then I noticed that Thunderbird flagged it as well from an alt email address. I looked at the headers (sort the table below, the > 0 results are not good).
The domain host is currently:
- allowing ?all on the SPF setting and this raises issues with spam searching engines. Ideally this should be set to ~all and then to configure the DMARC record to require both DKIM and SPF "pass" results.
- not setting a DMARC record for the lists. subdomain. The default should trickle up to the root domain, however this gets a flag. Ideally, each subdomain gets a DMARC record set up.
- not aligning the headers (I see this a lot at work with Microsoft backends and there is an additional configuration step on their end to do)
In a nutshell, there are some items that are not in our control that cause red flags to spam filters. Setting a filter or allowlisting can help the email get to your inbox.
