08-16-01 (Good News/Bad News)

MORE BAD NEWS (8/16), not only did I fry the power supply, the processor went with it, which I found out after installing a new power supply. I ordered a new chip, only to find out that it was out of stock (I love online stores that keep their database current). Anyhow, I ordered one over the phone to verify that this place did indeed have it in stock and it should be here Monday. then we'll see how much more damage has been done.

MORE GOOD NEWS, Well, if you're reading this, than you may have noticed the lack of pop-ups and rightfully so, as we're on a new server. Thanks to Chitaz for hosting us once again (some may recall that we were on Chit's server awhile ago, but due to circumstances beyond our control, we moved camp while Chit go setup again with his own hosting service. So, once again, we're home and our hats are off to Chit for his help in setting us up again. As an aside, I'm doing this update on my old P166 and using 'Putty' to login by SSH. While I've only used a couple SSH programs this past week, this one takes the cake as freeware. Be sure to check out Putty if you happen to need a decent free client. It appears to do an excellent job interpreting html code while in VI editor and seperates html tags with various colors. Yeah, I like it. THE BAD NEWS(8/6), I fried my power supply in the main computer ('Mutha') this morning, not something to do on a Friday by any means. Living in Maine rears its ugly head as I realize I may just have to mail-order a replacement due to a shortage in 400W power supplies up here. I'll be checking my email online, but responses will probably wait until 'Mutha' is back and online.
