Mattel Power gloves were sold to the masses. Pens and Padds go back to Star Trek 1966. And by 1987 the PADD had become a regular device on ST TNG.  Docs devices were based on TRON, and there were &amp;quot;datagloves&amp;quot; in Galaxy Rangers. one i designed was used for safecracking i think&lt;br /&gt;

by the later 80s, VPL - Laniers Gloves and VR buzz began. The software written for the glove and VR headgear was called Swivel 3D. Young Harval. I found an alpha of it on my Mac in 1988. Starting then i went Virtual Design which leads up to todays XR products.&lt;br /&gt;
